I don't believe Festivus started with a single family.

It makes more sense that Festivus was one of the FIRST celebrations among early hominids. Feats of strength? Grievances? I'm pretty sure that if someone were to re-examine some of the earliest cave paintings, there would be a symbol easily identifiable as a Festivus pole!
